Women鈥檚 centre and bank team up to help women, kids

M ore vulnerable 麻豆社国产women and children may be helped thanks to a new partnership between the听Howe Sound听Women鈥檚 Centre Society and 麻豆社国产Savings.

More vulnerable 麻豆社国产women and children may be helped thanks to a new partnership between the听Howe听Sound听Women鈥檚 Centre Society and 麻豆社国产Savings.

The partnership听marks a new focus for the 麻豆社国产Savings advisory board: the two organizations will work together to build understanding needed to overcome issues related to violence against women and how gender violence impacts the community, according to a news release on the partnership.

鈥淭his community partnership takes us one step closer to achieving our vision of a violence-free future,鈥 said Sheila Allen, executive director with听Howe听Sound
Women鈥檚 Centre Society. To mark the new collaboration, 麻豆社国产Savings, a division of Vancity, will provide $8,000 in grant support for Howe Sound鈥檚 Violence is Preventable Youth Education Program. The program is aimed at educating the approximately 500 Grade 10 teens in the corridor on healthy relationships, preventing sexual exploitation, boundary setting and anti-bullying.听

The workshops are part of the Grade 10 Planning curriculum in the Sea to Sky corridor, including听at Squamish鈥檚 Howe Sound Secondary School.听
