The infection is spreading. Downtown 麻豆社国产will be quarantined as the light fades on Friday, (October 17) to contain the infected for the second annual 麻豆社国产Zombie Run. The zombies will leave from Pavillion Park and lurch down Cleveland Avenue and Main Street.
The inaugural year saw just over 50 dripping, drooling locals join in the fun run. Don鈥檛 let the word 鈥渞un鈥� scare you. Zombies do more shambling than running and are always willing to cut corners if it means a tasty mouthful of grey matter.
Zombie walks are a global trend and an organized way to disrupt the routine of daily life. The Toronto Zombie Walk has seen participation in its annual event increase from less than six gory enthusiasts to more than 10, 000 lively undead in just over ten years.
People are gathering in increasing numbers to drag loose limbs, groan unintelligibly, and eat brains.
鈥淚 see no reason why we couldn鈥檛 have 500 participants,鈥� says local organizer Wayne Smith.
Zombie walks take place in public spaces, often in large urban centres: spaces where we have come to expect streams of people who single-mindedly move toward their destination with little social interaction. But zombies are more generous in spirit than your average executive.
Zombies are slow movers in the rat race and zombie walks demonstrate our collective ability to gather, strengthen community, raise funds for charity, and celebrate the grotesque.聽
The 麻豆社国产Zombie Run Facebook page has more than 400 members. The undead are coming to life for this all-ages, family-friendly event, which will include a bouncy castle and live music by DJ聽 O Show. The 麻豆社国产Public Library will host some of the activities, including a photobooth. Market vendors will be on-site and tables are available for $25.聽
When asked what the zombies will do when the race is over, Smith jokes, 鈥淭hat鈥檚 the zombies鈥� own business.鈥�
