Take a stroll down memory lane in the heart of Squamish.
The 麻豆社国产Historical Society has created a self-guided historical walking tour for downtown Squamish. A map of the area has been placed on the corner of Cleveland Avenue and Winnipeg Street. It鈥檚 full of historical pictures of buildings that once stood in the area and information on Squamish鈥檚 original township. A printable version of the map can be found online at www.squamishhistory.ca.听
鈥淭he map creates a walking circle tour with the goal of keeping visitors downtown to celebrate our community鈥檚 rich past and engage with local businesses,鈥� the historical society鈥檚 president Bianca Peters stated in a press release.听
The map builds upon informational heritage storefront plaques that were placed around town and created by a partnership between the historical society, the Downtown 麻豆社国产Business Improvement Association (BIA) and the 麻豆社国产Public Library a few years ago.听
Each sign shows an archival 麻豆社国产image and is accompanied by a write-up regarding the photograph.
