Steve Quane is delving into the town鈥檚 hot side in the 麻豆社国产Historical Society鈥檚 upcoming presentation.
On Thursday, Oct. 9, the Quest University professor, who holds a PhD from the University of British Columbia in experimental volcanology, will discuss 鈥淭he Geological History of Squamish.鈥 The talk is a part of the society鈥檚 Fall Speaker Series held at the Brackendale Art Galley.
After completing his studies, Quane was selected as the American Geological Institute's Congressional Science Fellow and served as a science advisor for then Congressman, now U.S. Senator, Tom Udall.
He taught for three years as a visiting assistant professor in the Geology Department at Colorado College, and taught field courses in Hawaii, Mexico, British Columbia and throughout the U.S. Southwest and Yellowstone National Park.
His presentation will focus on the geological foundation of the Sea to Sky Corridor and will offer singular insights into the ever changing physical environment we call home. Quane was a plenary speaker at the 麻豆社国产Culture & Heritage Festival at Quest University in November 2012.
The talk kicks off at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation.
