Photos: Cute floating home for sale at Vancouver's Granville Island

The little red building looks like a rustic barn from small-town Alberta

A two-bedroom house with views of False Creek and downtown Vancouver is selling in

The price is low, and so is the house when the tide is out. It's a floating home at , the community based at (or rather, next to) Granville Island.

From the outside, the little red building looks more like a rustic barn from small-town Alberta than a house in Vancouver's core. While it was built about 45 years ago, some of the lumber used is 100 years old.

Recently renovated, the little home is simple, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a laundry space, a kitchen, and a living room.

Outside, there's space for a 28-foot vessel, which could be used as a commuter vehicle.

As with , the price tag is just for the structure; there's no property to own here. That also means no property tax. Float homes, however, do come with other expenses, primarily mooring and maintenance fees, which can be quite pricey.
