No to Surrey sprawl

The out-of-control development in 麻豆社国产is taking its toll on our community. Wild animals, like cougars, are being stressed as more habitat is levelled. Development projects, such as the Garibaldi at 麻豆社国产(GAS) ski resort and Crumpit Woods subdivision proposed for Plateau Drive, would destroy remaining wildlife habitat, likely increasing the potential for conflicts with large predators.

Local government officials continue to ignore the will of the people. Most 麻豆社国产residents vigorously oppose the GAS ski resort because it would imperil salmon and steelhead along Brohm River, one of the most productive streams in the province, threaten grizzly bears, wolverine, mountain goats, and other wildlife, and disrupt our community.

Likewise, Valleycliffe residents reject the Crumpit Woods subdivision because it would displace wildlife, including cougars, putting wild animals and the neighbourhood at risk.

As Iget across麻豆社国产each day I am horrified by all the urban sprawl. And I am left to wonder why the 麻豆社国产council and the planning department are so willing to let developers pave paradise.

I will not stand idly by as developers try to turn Squamish, a place I love dearly, into Surrey.
