MUNICH (AP) 鈥� Cristiano Ronaldo says he's almost certain he will not be playing at the , dealing a blow to FIFA president Gianni Infantino鈥檚 hopes of having one of soccer鈥檚 biggest attractions at the tournament.
The Portugal star confirmed Saturday that he received 鈥渜uite a few鈥� offers from participating clubs to play for them at the tournament starting June 14, but had decided against accepting any of them.
鈥淪ome things make sense to talk about, other things don鈥檛, and, as a person says, you can鈥檛 take part in everything,鈥� Ronaldo said. 鈥淵ou have to think about the short, medium and long term. It鈥檚 a decision practically made on my part not to go to the Club World Cup, but I鈥檝e had quite a few invitations to go.鈥�
Ronaldo was speaking in Munich a day before Portugal鈥檚 Nations League final against Spain.
鈥淭his is irrelevant right now,鈥� Ronaldo said when first asked about the Club World Cup. 鈥淚t makes no sense to talk about anything other than the national team.鈥�
