The local food bank is preparing to collect non-perishable food near the end of September for the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive.
The , also now known as The Market, is partnering with the and the local branch of to host the annual BC Thanksgiving Food Drive event from Sept. 20 to 23. Volunteers will drop off food boxes to various neighbourhoods during that time, which will be collected on Sept. 25, according to a news release."The annual BC Thanksgiving Food Drive is an incredible opportunity for the community to support the work we do at The Market (麻豆社国产Food Bank), and to help us create access to nutritious food, in a dignified and empowering way,” said Market manager, Mariana Borsuk-Gudz, in the release.
The Market serves approximately 400 community members and their families. Last year, the Thanksgiving food drive received about 9,000 pounds of donated food with little waste and visited about 4,500 homes.“Your contributions — both food donations, and financial support — allow us to do what we do. We are so grateful for the support of our community, in helping us address food insecurity in the 麻豆社国产community,” said Borsuk-Gudz.
