Talent galore will be on stage this weekend and next as the Howe Sound Dance Academy presents Hansel and Gretel at the Eagle Eye Theatre on Friday and Saturday (June 8 and 9) and next week on June 15 and 16.

The 麻豆社国产Environmental Society has its monthly bird count on Sunday (June 10) and members will meet at the Howe Sound Inn and Brew Pub at 7 a.m. The group will be looking for insect eaters, such as fly catchers and swallows. The 麻豆社国产Historical Society has its last meeting before the summer on Thursday (June 14) starting with a barbecue at 5:30 p.m. at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park. On Thursday (June 14) the Afternoon Book Club at the 麻豆社国产Public Library will meet at noon to discuss the book Too Much Happiness by Alice Munro.

The 麻豆社国产Seniors Centre Society?s annual general meeting is planned on Wednesday (June 13) at the Seniors Centre at 1 p.m. Guest speaker Shawn Jones will give an overview on the changes to the Power of Attorney and the need for wills followed by the business session and the election of officers. Paid-up members of the seniors centre are automatically members of the society. Refreshments will be served.

Volunteers are needed to co-lead Chronic Pain Self-Management programs. Leader training is provided free of charge at the seniors centre on June 14, 15, 21 and 22. The Howe Sound Women?s Centre is sponsoring a toonie drive as a fundraiser and is asking everyone to collect their toonies and bring them into the centre on Third Avenue or drop them off at Pearl?s Value and Vintage Store on Cleveland Avenue.
