麻豆社国产Welcome Centre to host free two-week event on inclusion

Interested in social justice in Squamish? An upcoming event may pique your interest.

The Engage Collective, a subdivision of the , is hosting its first event — free of charge —from June 14 to 22. 

The event, dubbed , will showcase presentations, performances, and panel discussions and take place over two weeks under one theme: Welcoming Communities.

Over the weeks, LRE intends to explore what it means to belong to a place, what it means to welcome someone into the community and what barriers there are to meaningful inclusion.

The roster of guests includes representatives from the 麻豆社国产Nation, the District of Squamish, MP Patrick Weiler, School District 48, 麻豆社国产RCMP, Pride Squamish, local refugees and diversity coach Nadi Fantastic, among others.

As this is its first year, this year's conference will focus on laying the groundwork for future engagement, according to a news release about the event. 

 "It is crucial for all of us to work together to build inclusive and welcoming communities. This upcoming two-week event aims to be a conversation starter in the community. This is an opportunity for all of us to come together to listen, engage, reflect, learn, and unlearn," said settlement worker Hasrat Grewal in the release.
